North Knox Veterinary Clinic

North Knox Veterinary Clinic is a full service veterinary hospital for dogs and cats. Our staff is dedicated to providing you and your pet with the quality of medical care we feel you deserve.

 

The following is a listing of services and how they can benefit you and your pet(s).

EXAMINATIONS:

  • Annual exams for healthy dogs and cats to confirm their good health and to find any health problems early.
  • Exams for sick animals in order to diagnose and recommend treatment.
    Pre-anesthesia exams to determine health of surgical patients and help choose appropriate anesthesia.
  • Examinations for health certificates for interstate and international travel.

VACCINATIONS:

  • Routine vaccinations for cats and dogs. Each pet is evaluated on an individual basis to access which vaccinations are needed.

PARASITE CONTROL:

  • Routine heartworm testing for dogs.
  • Heartworm preventatives for dogs and cats.
  • Fecal exams for diagnosis and treatment of intestinal parasites.
  • Flea and tick preventatives for cats and dogs.

SURGERIES:

  • Spaying of female and neutering of male cats and dogs.
  • Declawing of cats
  • Exploratory surgeries for diagnostic purposes.
  • Tumor removal surgeries (off-site laboratories are used for tumor analysis).
  • Limited orthopedic surgery is available. Referrals are made for some surgeries.
  • Pre-anesthetic blood testing is recommended and is available in-house.
  • Pulse Oximeter is available for monitoring during surgery.
  • Gas anesthesia and pain management is used.

DENTAL SERVICES:

  • Dental examinations and consultations are done yearly with comprehensive yearly physical.
  • Routine teeth cleaning, scaling and polishing are done with an ultrasonic dental scaler.
  • Extraction of broken or diseased teeth and treatment of periodontal disease.

RADIOLOGY:

  • X-ray machine and automatic processor are used for high-quality radiographs.

DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES:

  • In-house blood testing equipment with capability to do CBC (complete blood count), T4 (thyroid testing) and diagnostic panels.
  • In-house heartworm, feline leukemia, FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), parvovirus and giardia testing.
  • Ethylene glycol (antifreeze) poisoning testing.
  • Off-site laboratories available for additional diagnostic blood and tissue testing.

REFERRAL SERVICES:

  • Local referral to specialists in internal medicine, behavior, neurology, dermatology, orthopedic surgery, radiology, ultrasound, opthamology, etc.

EMERGENCY CARE:

  • We recommend the services of the two Pet Emergency Clinics in the Knoxville area:
    • After Hours Pet Emergency Clinic in west Knoxville (966-3888) and
    • Knoxville Pet Emergency Clinic in the U.T. area (637-0114)

IDENTIFICATION SERVICES:

  • An identification tag is given with every rabies vaccination.
  • Avid Microchip implantation is available for both dogs and cats.

BOARDING:

  • Indoor kennel facility with 8 (3 ½’ X 10’) runs.
  • Fenced outdoor area for elimination and exercise (dogs are let out twice a day)
  • Cats are kept in large stainless steel cages with bed and litter box.
  • Reservations are required.

GROOMING:

  • Grooming is available Monday through Friday for all breeds of dogs and cats.
